History teacher Will Kelley is a 2014 graduate from the University of Memphis and he has taken his first teaching job here at Germantown for the 2014-2015 school year.
Q: What do you like about teaching?
A: I enjoy it because I get to talk about my favorite [subject] all day long. It also allows me to make a difference in the lives of young people.
Q: How do you like teaching high school students?
A: I do like teaching high school students because I feel like my abilities and my personality mesh well with high school students.
Q: What were you doing before you started teaching?
A: I was in the restaurant business for 15 years but I’ve always had a passion for teaching and history. Even when I was in the restaurant business, I was a corporate trainer, which means I had to teach and educate people on things about the ways of their particular restaurant.
Q: What made you want to start teaching?
A: Well, I’ve always had a thing for history and I decided to try to keep the love for history alive in young people.
Q: What are your favorite things or hobbies?
A: I am in Grad school at the moment so I don’t really have time for hobbies. When I do get time to do things, I love to cook, read and spend time with my wife. I’m also a die hard Memphis Tigers fan!
