Although many students fly through high school with a breeze, class of 2015 valedictorian Katherine Molinet put in a great deal of work over the four years.
“I would say that I spend over five hours a day on studying and probably 30 hours a week including weekends. I’m usually really self-motivated and my parents aren’t really that strict on me about my study habits; I think that’s why I made it as far as I did,” said senior Katherine Molinet.
This hard work and motivation has paid off as Molinet will be attending Duke University in the fall.
Despite the number of hours spent on her studies, Molinet will leave GHS with other memories beyond the classroom.
“I actually have a really nice social life and I wouldn’t want to take back any of the memories that I’ve made through the years. I not much of a partier but I love getting together with friends and just hanging out for a while. Those are the moments that I live for honestly,” said Molinet
From freshman year to senior year, many students look back and have things that they wish they could have done earlier. Molinet feels that others might be able to learn from her experience.
“My advice would be to get involved with a lot of things because there are a lot of great opportunities here at Germantown. When I was an underclassman, I wasn’t really that involved and I only focused on academics, but I wish I had gotten more involved earlier so that way I could talk to the upperclassmen and ask for advice and just meet more people,” stated Molinet.
Being the valedictorian isn’t just constant studying and books; it’s more about time management and how you can effectively make the most of it… as Molinet has clearly shown.
