After playing well in a recent tournament, coach Matt Sugg is figuring out a plan for the remainder of the soccer season.
“We definitely found the areas that we need to improve on and I don’t think we’re too far away from being a pretty dominate team in the area,” Sugg said.
After determining the areas that needed improvement, Sugg and players expect the season to end well.
Sugg looks forward to “lots of success with a few little hiccups every once in awhile which just comes from coaching teenage boys but other than that we should end up where we need to by the end of the season.”
Senior Kyle Khan has high hopes for what’s to come.
“I expect to go to state and anything less would be a disappointment,” Khan said.
This expected success is all dependent on key players this year.
“Seniors have done well in their leadership roles. Kyle Khan and Myles Scott are our actual team captains. Michael Johnson runs the back and has done a very good job at working with some freshmen in the defense this year,” Sugg said.
Win or lose, Sugg is proud of his team and how far they have come.
“The overall improvement comes from the discipline of desire to win. Instead of it taking three or four games for us to get new concepts down, it’s only taking a week of practice and maybe one or two games which is vastly better than last year. We are playing more as a team and happy to be out there other than eighteen and nineteen individuals,” Sugg said.
