If you haven’t picked out a Christmas tree yet, Merry Christmas Tree Farm is a fun and festive way to pick one out. According to memphistravel.com it’s the number one tree farm in the Mid-South has a huge selection of Christmas trees in a variety of sizes. Visitors take a free hayride into the tree farm. From there, they are able to choose and cut their favorite tree. Pre-cut trees are also available. A gift shop is also available! Located south of Memphis in Nesbit, MS, Merry Christmas Tree Farm will be open until December 24.
Of course, Zoo Lights and Starry Nights are both back this year, providing an opportunity to view all kinds of light displays. Zoo Lights costs $6 for zoo members, $8 for nonmembers and provides magic shows, Polar Express Train and camel rides (for an extra fee). At $20 per car, Starry Nights offers more than 2 million lights to see, most this year featuring famous Memphis landmarks.
If in the mood for some holiday music, listening to the Memphis Symphony Orchestra would be a perfect way to celebrate the holidays. They’ll be performing their “Home for the Holidays” concert at the Cannon Center for Performing Arts on Dec. 20.
The runners can take advantage of the Ugly Sweater Run at Shelby Farms Park on Dec. 21 at 3 PM. Cost is $30 or $40 if registering the day of the race. More information can be found by searching for the Ugly Sweater Run, Memphis location.
For football fans, the Texas A&M Aggies and the West Virginia Mountaineers will face off in the 56th Auto Zone Liberty Bowl on Monday, Dec. 29. Halftime entertainment will be provided by the county group Big & Rich. Ticket prices start at $55.
As always, Beale Street is bringing in the New Year in their own signature way with a guitar drop at their big New Year’s Eve Party. Bands will begin performing at 5 PM with a fireworks show at midnight.
