Many Germantown High School students have not thought about where they will be in ten years. Others, however, constantly contemplate their futures.
Senior Cameron Currie recognizes how GHS will play a part in his future.
“It’ prepared me as far as learning how to work, not be lazy, and get things done on time,” stated Currie.
His aspiration to join the Marines is also a result of his high school experience.
“Mr. Michael Collins has helped me decide what I want to do specifically going into the military,” Currie said.
Dr. Wendy Willingham, the eleventh grade counselor, does her best to prepare students for life after high school. Her goal is to “focus on making eleventh graders advocate for themselves,” taking her personal experience to assist.
“I think not being the best student in the world has helped me be a better counselor,” Willingham said.
Other students have sizable aspirations. Senior India Tate is excited to begin her future.
“In ten years I see myself with BIG hair! Even bigger then now…and also owning a business,” said Tate.
Senior Korlin Gates has chosen the international route.
“In ten years I want to be on a world tour with my friends,” Gates said.
Mrs. Fran Odom, the twelfth grade counselor, believes the students should construct strong profiles and expand their horizons.
“Each stage in life prepares you for the next,” Odom said.
Whether the future is always on your mind, or you just plan on winging it, hopefully your years at Germantown will influence your decisions.
