Tacos for breakfast?
Breakfast has been making its way into the fast food industry and now it’s hit Taco Bell.
"Taco Bell is entering the mad scramble by fast-food heavyweights to compete for the morning on-the-go crowd. Breakfast has become the most important meal of the day for restaurants, accounting for virtually all of the industry’s growth in the past five year,” the “Chicago Sun-Times” stated in an article.
The curiosity of Taco Bell’s customers sparked even more after the advertising for the new menu developed.
“I go to taco bell every once and a while. I saw the new waffle taco and I really wanted to try one,” sophomore Michael Gonzalez stated.
The breakfast menu was just a test run to see if it did well, and if successful, Taco Bell would add more items on the menu. They still have a ways to go, but some reviews for the new menu are positive.
“I love taco bell. My friends and I go there all the time. I eat there like three times a week. I had their new breakfast, and I think it ‘s amazing,” sophomore Austin Cowan stated.
Other Taco Bell customers disagree.
“One of my friends tried it, and they said it was horrible. I think I’m just going to stick with the regular menu,” junior Kristen Johnson stated.
In all, this Mexican chain restaurant has gotten the outcome that they anticipated from the breakfast they are now serving. According to Scott Hume of “The Christian Science Monitor” the results so far are good: “Taco Bell is likely to get the 7% bump it expects. Maybe even 8% so management can crow that breakfast ‘has exceeded our expectations’. Breakfast will be a success. It will get a good bit of “buzz” on social media.”
Though sales have increased, some recognize the reality of tacos for breakfast.
“Will it become the No. 1 breakfast choice? Not a chance,” Hume stated.
