Where were you before coming to Germantown?
Townsend: “I was at the central office as a performance improver trainer for the past year. I was at Bartlett prior to that for roughly sixteen years.”
Terrell: “I have served in various administrative roles such as principal, assistant principal, and education administrative consultant for 8 years.”
What interested you in Germantown High?
Townsend: “With the transition that’s going on within the system, seeing the opportunity to see Germantown shift toward more of an optional type programing interests me.”
Terrell: “I was drawn to Germantown High School’s proud tradition of scholastic and athletic excellence.”
What’s your perception of Germantown so far?
Townsend: “It’s a very friendly school. I’ve had students in multiple grade levels come up to me and say, ‘hi, I’m so and so - glad you’re here.’ The teachers, everybody has been very welcoming. As far as administration, I couldn’t ask for a more important group to work with.”
Terrell: “I think Germantown is an excellent school with excellent
academics, excellent sports, and I noticed the teachers are very in depth with dealing with the students and overall a great place to work.”
What do you see as the biggest problem?
Townsend: “Right now it seems like we have a very strong administrative staff in place now. The leadership and the teachers are supportive of what’s going on and I think we have a good, strong community base so that’s key to our success. They’re all fitting into that giant puzzle.”
Terrell: “Students being tardy, and students, male students, wearing hoods and their pants down. We’re working on correcting those [problems].”
Do you have any plans for next year?
Townsend: “I think next year as we move towards the new programs, I’m excited about the change. I’m excited about being apart of the full school year with our current administration. I think that’s the biggest thing for me right now. I don’t want to come in making changes, I want to see what’s working, what’s not and be apart of a positive move with the team in the right direction.”
Terrell: “I plan to continue this school’s proud tradition.”
