Algebra 2 teacher Josh Taylor is excited about his first year as a high school math teacher.
Q: What was the most useful college course you have ever taken?
A: The most useful college course I have ever taken would be economics really. It’s a basic college course, but really I see economics everywhere.
Q: What type of student were you in high school?
A: Oh, I was a very good student. Straight A’s, played sports. Well, I played tennis; some people don’t think that’s a sport but it’s a sport. I was involved in a lot of clubs, I did a lot of charity work. I continued that in college and even after I graduated, I continued charity work.”
Q: What is your favorite age group to teach?
A: Definitely fourth graders. I subbed at an elementary school a lot. I like them because they behave better. They’re not like fifth graders who think they know everything and are disruptive; they’re just still really sweet kids.
Q: Has Germantown as a whole been welcoming?
A: Yes the Germantown teachers are very welcoming. They have been beyond helpful. If it wasn’t for them, it would be a lot different; even the students have been helpful. Some of them I think have lied to me about some stuff but they’ve been helpful.
Q: What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the school?
A: I’m a big music fan. I’m from the hometown of Bonnaroo so I go there every year. Other than that, I haven’t established anywhere here but I usually do the charity work like food banks. I just haven’t found that yet but once I do, I’ll start back up.
