Germantown High’s tennis teams have been doing exceptionally well this season. Leading the guys’ team this year are seniors Thomas George and Jack Abrams and leading the girls’ are seniors Allison McGill and Allison Cuyler.
“All of our seniors have a lot of potential and they are all really great players,” coach Barbara Whitaker said.
The boys’ team, so far, is undefeated.
“This season has been really fun and we’ve definitely have been kicking butt,” George said.
GHS girls’ are finding a little more difficulty in their season so far.
“Tennis has been really good; the girls have not been doing as well as the guys, but we really have a good line up this year,” Cuyler said.
While the final record is what many remember, these seniors feel tennis has brought much more.
Abrams, Cuyler and McGill all felt the best memories involved the friendships they have made along the way; George’s is a little more personal.
“It’s been a good four years and my greatest memory was going to state with my brother,” stated George
Even though the seniors may not be playing tennis on a college level next year, they felt they will always have a love for the game.
“I’ve been playing tennis for five or six years and I can possibly see myself playing in college but more than likely I will just play for recreational purposes,” Abrams stated.
George agreed.
As the seniors leave with fond memories of their time on the tennis team, Whitaker will leave with her own memories.
“They are all very special,” Whitaker said.
